The RNL-02.08 type Source Range Analogue module is the more intelligent version of RNL-02.07. It has RS 422 serial I/O interface, supporting the simple interfacing to Neutron Flux Data Processor.
The RNL-02.08. Source Range Analogue Module is used for the measurement of currents from fission chamber. It serves for the measurement of the neutron flux in the source range. The signal of the detector gets to the input of the preamplifier. The pulse signal is processed in an amplifier with amplitude discrimination. The adjustable discriminator suppresses background signals induced in the cable, electronic noise, and a radiation. This pulse signal will be processed in the range of 10-1 pps to 106 pps. The pulse frequency predivider serves to purpose of minimizing the statistical double pulse and dead time error. Threshold level can be controlled from potentiometer or from PIC. The input of the integral discriminator can be switched over to the output of TG1 test generator by remote controlled binary signal (TEST ON).
The positive HV power supply is built up of encapsulated circuit. Both set-value control signal (HV+CNTR), and monitoring signal (HV+MON) are connected to RS 422 serial I/O lines.
The module is located in a double-shielded box out of the reactor vessel. It is built in massive brass housing to protect from electro-magnetic interference waves and cross coupling. This unit is installed isolated into additional die-cast aluminum housing. This insulated installation provides an additional protective screen. Maximum 200 m long cable ensures the electrical connection between the analog module and Neutron Flux Data Processor.
The primary supply of power enters the board. The unit also contains an isolation amplifier-current loop function to get the primary power monitoring signal (MON POWER S) output.
